Part 2: How Reflejo Walks Alongside a Candidate

Looking for part 1?

Currently, Reflejo is considering candidates that are single and candidates that are married. We have young college graduates approaching us about going to the field, and we have a family with decades of experience on the field wanting to become part of the team.

This is wonderful! Each one of Gods´ children can bring different experiences and strengths to the Great Commission. But this also means that we at Reflejo need to properly steward each candidate God brings to our doors (or website).

So how does a candidate experience our application process? Here are some steps below:

  1. Whether they reach out through our website or someone makes a personal introduction, you’ll probably engage in an introductory conversation with our personnel coordinator, Victoria. In this exchange, she’ll begin to dive into understanding you and explain some expectations. For example, we may not be the right organization for you if:

    a. You’re not interested in focusing on an unreached people group.

    b. You’re only looking for a short-term experience.

    c. You don’t agree with our mission, values, or statement of faith.

  2. Once we sense Reflejo could be a good fit, we’d like to have a deeper conversation with someone involved in the area of Reflejo you’d like to join. Once that goes well, we’ll invite you to officially apply.

  3. The written application dives into a lot of different areas. Your spiritual formation, calling, ministry experience, church background, education and work experience are among some of the areas we explore together. Another big part of the written application? Your references. This is where we hear from your church and community to get a more rounded picture of you.

  4. Once we’ve explored various topics mentioned above and begun exploring a possible field opportunity to ensure we can help you accomplish your calling (like if you’d like to go to a specific country), we dive to another layer. Our Vida Plena member care team provides a personality assessment and wellness interview so we can better understand your strengths and needs. We want to make sure the role you are applying for is the best fit for your gifts and understand how our team needs to prepare to help you thrive on mission.

  5. Next stop? Your Day of Discernment. We’ve been praying for wisdom and direction from God this whole time, but, as it seems we’re moving ahead together, we want to do one final check. A few members of Reflejo will sit with you and hear you share your testimony. We’ll create space for your remaining questions and ours. Once that’s done, our group will spend time on focused prayer and will return with an official response that very day.

  6. Made it this far? Congratulations! Your journey of preparation, training and partner raising before heading overseas has officially begun.
